Welcome! I’m Nicola, a Qualified Art Therapist
A Bit About Me
As an art therapist, my goal is to help individuals learn to connect with and understand themselves. I do this through facilitating a non judgmental, safe space and relationship, (online or in person) for you express yourself, ask questions and reflect through making art. In this space, I am available to listen, witness and offer psychoeducation, to support you as you learn what you need. We can then work together to find solutions tailored to your individual journey and experiences.
-
I enjoy working with people of all ages and specialise in issues of identity, grief, loss, anxiety and emotional regulation. I also work with individuals who are experiencing religious deconstruction, trauma related to leaving high demand groups and spiritual abuse.
-
A huge influence in my decision to become an Art Therapist was my education in photography. I developed a great love for analogue photography and spending time in the darkroom.
Having this artistic space in my life has been invaluable to me and helped me experience the power creativity has in helping with understanding ourselves and the world around us. I was then able to train to learn how this can be used in therapy as a powerful tool for self expression, communication, and healing. I hope to be able to help others find this for themselves, both in therapy and in their everyday life.
My Qualifications & Further Learning.
-
I am a qualified Art Therapist having obtained an MA at the University of Chester November 2024
-
My time learning about photography allowed me to become confident in both digital and analogue processes. I came to love working with large format colour film which taught me a lot in the art of looking.
-
I am registered under the HCPC and am a member of the BAAT. This means I have agreed to practice Art Therapy ethically and safely. It also mean if you have any concerns you can contact these professional bodies and do not have to only talk to me. This is important to me as individuals should be held accountable for their actions and always allowed to be questioned.
